Safe Passage Over Water with Silhouetted Sea Birds

"Safe Passage Over Water" was painted with acrylic on a primed 8 x 10 canvas stretched on a wood frame. The 1 1/2 inch edge on the inside back of the painting makes it easy to hang on a nail or push pin tack. The rectangle canvas came stretched and primed for painting from an art store. The 1 1/2 inch slanted edges on the front are painted bright green with black silhouettes of sea birds.

This original painting was inspired by the symbol of "safe passage over water". The shape reminds me of a droplet of water and the sharp curves remind me of waves. The exaggerated bright orange sunset adds warmth to the message that you will be taken care of on the stylized rocky waters. The silhouettes of sea birds decorate the slanted green edges; they're green to bring a sense of good luck.
